Kusu Island Part 5 — Waiting for the Ferry, Meeting Island Security!
Goodbye, Kusu Island… Till Next Year!
Aunty: Bye bye, Kusu Island! Thanks for another lovely visit!
Kusu Island: Leaving already, Aunty? Come back again, okay?
Aunty: Of course lah! See you next year!
With happy memories, tired feet and a phone full of photographs, we boarded the ferry back to the mainland.
Same island, another year, another collection of memories to bring home.
Handsome Helpers at the Jetty
Aunty: Wah, handsome and friendly gentlemen helping seniors board the ferry!
Aunty: Hello! I also senior leh! Why nobody offer me a hand?
Ferry Crew: Aunty, you look very steady on your feet!
Aunty: Aiyoh! Sometimes looking too capable also got disadvantages!
The crew were standing by to help passengers board and disembark safely. A lovely gesture, especially for elderly passengers who might need a little extra support.
A Well-Deserved Seat!
Legs: AHHHH! Finally! Somewhere to sit!
Aunty: Don't get too comfortable hor. We still have to walk home later!
Legs: WHAT?! Cannot let us enjoy five minutes of peace, meh?
After a whole day of exploring Kusu Island, sinking into a comfortable ferry seat felt like a little luxury. Time to give those hardworking legs a well-deserved rest as we sailed back to the mainland.
Off We Go… Bye Bye, Kusu Island!
Aunty: Bye bye, Kusu Island! See you next year!
Sea: Whoooosh! No turning back now, Aunty!
Legs: GOOD! We're officially off duty!
The ferry pulled away from the jetty, leaving a trail of white foam dancing across the turquoise water.
As Kusu Island slowly faded into the distance, I took one last look back. Another lovely island adventure to tuck away among my happy memories.
A Giant Surprise at Sea!
Aunty: WAHHH! What a gigantic ship! What on earth are you carrying?
ANJI SOUNDNESS: Cars, Aunty! Lots and lots of cars!
Aunty: Aiyoh! You look like a whole multi-storey car park floating on the sea!
What an unexpected treat on our return journey! I spotted the enormous ANJI SOUNDNESS, a vehicle carrier reported to be the world's largest at the time of its launch.
I certainly hadn't expected to encounter such an impressive vessel on my little ferry ride home. Sometimes the best surprises appear when you're least expecting them!
Playing Hide-and-Seek in the Haze
Aunty: Hello, Mr Cruise Ship! Why are you hiding behind that thick curtain?
Cruise Ship: Shhhh… I'm playing hide-and-seek!
Aunty: Aiyoh! You're so big, how to hide?!
The thick haze had turned the distant skyline into a blurry backdrop. Even the enormous cruise ship looked as though it was trying to disappear behind a curtain of mist.
Now You See It, Now You Don't!
Aunty: Hello, long concrete wall! Are you a jetty or what?
Wall: Aunty, you ask me, I ask who?
Aunty: Aiyoh! Even the buildings behind you are hiding in the haze!
As our ferry continued towards the mainland, I spotted this long concrete structure stretching across the water. I wasn't sure what it was, but the hazy skyline behind it certainly caught my attention.
Another Angle, Another Surprise!
Aunty: EH! You again? Didn't I just photograph you?
Concrete Wall: Same wall, Aunty! Different angle!
Aunty: Aiyoh! You look so different from here!
Only while looking through my photographs did I realise I'd captured the same long structure from another angle. What a difference a change of viewpoint makes!
Ferry Conference in Progress!
Aunty: Wah! So many ferries gathered together! Having a meeting, is it?
Ferry No. 1: Order! Order! Meeting starts now!
Ferry No. 2: Chairman, I want to apply for annual leave!
Ferry No. 3: HELLO! I applied first, hor!
As our ferry sailed past, I spotted a whole gathering of boats resting on the water. They looked as though they were holding their own little conference, with plenty of matters to discuss!
Thankful for a Safe Journey
Aunty: Thank you, Mr Ferry, for bringing us safely back!
Ferry: You're welcome, Aunty! Enjoyed your little island adventure?
Aunty: Very much! But I think my legs enjoyed the journey home even more!
Back at Marina South Pier, I took one last photograph before leaving. Grateful for the safe journey, the lovely memories and another wonderful day spent exploring Kusu Island.
Until next year, Kusu Island. Take care!
Until We Meet Again, Kusu Island!
Another Kusu Island adventure has come to an end.
The feet may be tired, but the heart is happy and the memories are plentiful.
Thank you, Kusu Island, for another wonderful visit.
See you next year!
