After bringing dinner home and making sure CEO Mama had eaten, I was ready for another little adventure!
I had accidentally stumbled upon a rather special playground while browsing online. And the best part? It is in the neighbourhood!
Aunty: “Hubby ah, can bring me somewhere?”
Hubby: “Where now?”
Aunty: “A playground!”
Hubby: “PLAYGROUND?! At your age?!”
Aunty: “Aiyah! No age limit for having fun lah!”
And off we went on another little neighbourhood discovery!
A Mysterious Spiral Discovery!
Finding the Animal Kingdom Playground turned out to be a little more challenging than expected.
We drove around for quite a while before I spotted this unusual spiral structure.
Aunty: “Wah! What's this? Quite interesting leh!”
The Roundabout's Silent Guardian!
Spiral: “Hello! Looking for something?”
Aunty: “Yes! The Animal Kingdom Playground!”
Spiral: “Wrong department lah! No animals here!”
Aunty: “Then what are you doing here?”
Spiral: “Directing traffic lah!”
Aunty: “But you don't even have arrows!”
Spiral: “Aiyoh! I'm here to look handsome, not give directions!”
Aunty: “Wah! You're quite handsome from this angle!”
Spiral: “Of course! I look good from every direction!”
Aunty: “Then can you tell me where the playground is?”
Spiral: “Sorry lah! I'm a roundabout decoration, not Google Maps!”
Unfortunately, our handsome friend couldn't tell me where the Animal Kingdom Playground was hiding!
A Helpful Human GPS To The Rescue!
There was a playground across the road, but it didn't look like the one I was searching for.
So Aunty activated her most reliable navigation system — ASK SOMEONE!
Fortunately, a young lady happened to walk past. I approached her for directions, and she kindly pointed me towards the playground.
Aunty: “Thank you! Better than GPS!”
Human GPS: “You're welcome!”
No downloading, no buffering, no recalculating route!
Sometimes, a little kindness from a stranger is all we need to find our way.
And with that, Aunty was finally heading towards the Animal Kingdom Playground!
Hehehe! Our mysterious spiral couldn't help, but the young lady saved the day! ❤️🐾
Welcome To Animal Kingdom!
FINALLY!!! After a little treasure hunt and some help from our friendly human GPS, we found the
Animal Kingdom Playground!
Aunty: “HELLOOOOO! Anybody home?”
Gorilla: “Wah! Our VIP guest has finally arrived!”
Elephant: “What took you so long?”
Aunty: “Aiyoh! Your place so difficult to find lah!”
Gorilla: “Never mind! Welcome to our kingdom!”
And just like that, Aunty's childhood spirit came running back!
Time to meet the residents of Animal Kingdom, one by one!
Aunty: “Everybody line up! Attendance taking!”
Gorilla: “Boss, all twelve reporting for duty!”
Aunty: “Very good! Nobody go missing hor! I came all this way to see you!”
We'll introduce them one by one as Aunty's camera discovers them.
TWELVE residents, TWELVE personalities, and plenty of nonsense ahead!
The Unofficial Naming Of The Animal Kingdom Playground?
I couldn't spot any nameplates on our animal friends, so I decided to give each of them a nickname!
These are just Aunty's own silly names, of course.
After all, every resident of Animal Kingdom deserves a name and a little personality!
Let the naming ceremony begin! 🐾
No. 1 — Meet Mr King Kong The Gorilla!
King Kong: “HALT! I am King Kong, No. 1! Welcome to Animal Kingdom!”
Aunty: “Wah! You look very fierce leh!”
King Kong: “Of course! I'm the chief security officer!”
Aunty: “Then why are your eyes closed?”
King Kong: “Aiyah! Night shift lah! Let me rest a while!”
No. 2 — Tilly The Anteater!
Tilly: “Hello... I'm Tilly. I'm very shy one...”
Aunty: “Aiyoh, don't be shy lah! Come, let Aunty take a nice photo!”
Tilly: “But please don't make me famous, okay?”
Aunty: “Don't worry! Just one KACHAK!”
Tilly: “ONE only, hor? I don't want to become a celebrity!”

No. 3 — Grandpa Jumbo Reporting!
Grandpa Jumbo: “Hello, young lady! Welcome to my kingdom!”
Aunty: “Wah! Grandpa, how old are you?”
Grandpa Jumbo: “Old enough to remember when peanuts were cheap!”
Aunty: “Then why are you standing here all day?”
Grandpa Jumbo: “Retired lah! Now I just collect compliments!”
Three animals down, nine more to meet!
No. 4 — Humpy The Camel!
Humpy: “Hello, Aunty! I'm Humpy the Camel!”
Aunty: “Hello, Humpy! How's life?”
Humpy: “Very good! No more walking across hot deserts!”
Aunty: “Wah! So you're on holiday?”
Humpy: “Holiday? I've been standing here for YEARS lah!”
Another resident reporting for duty! Hope Humpy isn't going to ask Aunty to carry his luggage!
No. 5 — Miss Starlight The Horse!
Starlight: “Good evening! I'm Miss Starlight!”
Aunty: “Wah! Such a beautiful name!”
Starlight: “Thank you! I'm the prettiest horse in Animal Kingdom!”
Aunty: “Then why aren't you wearing your crown?”
Starlight: “Aiyoh! At the salon lah! Sent for polishing!”
No. 6 — Skittles The Parrot!
Skittles: “HELLO! HELLO! Welcome to Animal Kingdom!”
Aunty: “Wah! Skittles, your hairstyle very stylo leh!”
Skittles: “Thank you! Just came back from the salon!”
Aunty: “How much did you pay?”
Skittles: “Nothing lah! My feathers stand up naturally!”
No hair gel, no hairspray, no salon bills! Aunty, even his hairstyle is more economical than ours!
No. 7 — Raptor The Ostrich!
Raptor: “Hello down there! Who's visiting my kingdom?”
Aunty: “Wah! Raptor, your neck so long! Can see Johor Bahru or not?”
Raptor: “Cannot lah! But I can see who's coming to the playground!”
Aunty: “Good! Then you be our security guard!”
Raptor: “Aiyoh! I thought I was here to relax!”
No. 8 — Leo The Lion — His Majesty Has Arrived!
Aunty: “Hello, Your Majesty! Why you look so serious?”
Leo: “I'm the King of the Jungle! Must maintain my image!”
Aunty: “Then where's your crown?”
Leo: “Aiyoh! Today my off day lah!”
Aunty: “Off day still must entertain visitors ah?”
Leo: “Yalor! No salary, no annual leave, somemore must pose for photos!”
No. 9 —Ms Aqua — Do Not Disturb!
Aunty: “Hello, Ms Aqua! Why are you lying here?”
Ms Aqua: “Sunbathing lah! Can't you see?”
Aunty: “But there's no sunshine!”
Ms Aqua: “Then I'm cloudbathing lor!”
Aunty: “Wah! What a relaxing life!”
Ms Aqua: “Shhhh! Don't disturb my beauty sleep!”
No. 10 —Ms Bubbles — The Beauty Queen!
Aunty: “Hello, Ms Bubbles! Why your name so sweet?”
Ms Bubbles: “Because I'm the prettiest girl in Animal Kingdom!”
Aunty: “Wah! Then what's that big horn for?”
Ms Bubbles: “My beauty accessory lah! Limited edition!”
Aunty: “Aiyoh! Don't accidentally poke your admirers!”
No. 11 —Ms Honey — Where's My Honey?
Aunty: “Hello, Ms Honey! Why are you smiling so sweetly?”
Ms Honey: “Because I'm thinking about my honey!”
Aunty: “Wah! Where you keep it?”
Ms Honey: “In my tummy lah! All finished!”
Aunty: “Then why are you still waiting here?”
Ms Honey: “Waiting for somebody to refill my honey jar!”
No. 12 —Gerry The Giraffe — Wrong End, Aunty!
Aunty: “Wah! What a strange-looking mountain!”
Gerry: “EXCUSE ME! I'm a giraffe!”
Aunty: “HUH?! Where's your head?”
Gerry: “DOWN HERE! I'm drinking water lah!”
Aunty: “AIYOH! I've been photographing your backside!”
Gerry: “WAH PIANG! Next time please check which end you're photographing!”
Our Animal Kingdom population has now reached TWELVE! And Gerry wins the award for Most Unfortunate Camera Angle!
No. 13 — Snakey The Snake! 🐍
Snakey — The Longest Resident!
Aunty: “Hello, Snakey! Why are you lying across the walkway?”
Snakey: “I'm not lying down! I'm going for my evening walk!”
Aunty: “But you don't have legs!”
Snakey: “Aiyoh! That's why I'm taking so long lah!”
Aunty: “Then where's your ladder?”
Snakey: “Wrong game lah, Aunty! This is Animal Kingdom, not Snakes And Ladders!”
A Little Surprise In The Animal Kingdom!
I was expecting the playground equipment to follow a safari or jungle theme, especially with all those animal sculptures surrounding it.
Instead, I found this colourful little playground!
Aunty: “Eh? Where are the jungle vines and safari jeeps?”
Playground: “Aiyoh! I'm a playground lah, not Singapore Zoo!”
Aunty: “But your roof looks like a spaceship!”
Playground: “Special service! From Animal Kingdom to outer space!” 🚀
Not quite what I had imagined, but still cute and cheerful in its own way!
And I like that the playground equipment doesn't completely overshadow those lovely white animal sculptures. The animals are still the stars of the show! 🐾💜
Playground Security Alert! 🚨
Staircase: “NO! NO! NO! Aunty! You're NOT doing what I think you're going to do!”
Aunty: “Do what? Who, me? How you know?”
Staircase: “All the playground buddies have been warned!”
Aunty: “WHERE? WHAT? HOW? WHEN?!”
Staircase: “GROUP CHAT LAH!”
Aunty: “WAH PIANG! I haven't even climbed one step and I'm already famous?!”
Vulture Wannabe!
Aunty: “Hello! Are you a vulture or a crow?”
Crow: “Excuse me! I'm a crow lah!”
Aunty: “Then why your hairstyle like that? Auditioning for a vulture role ah?”
Crow: “It's called FASHION! You don't understand!”
Aunty: “Aiyoh! Who cut your hair?!”
Crow: “Don't mention it lah! Barber's shaver went out of control!”
Aunty: “Then why never complain?”
Crow: “I DID! He said, ‘Don't worry, it'll grow back!’”
Aunty: “Next time change barber lah!”
Poor Mr Crow! Went in for a stylish haircut, came out looking like a vulture trainee!
It's All In The Little Details!
The animal sculptures may not have a perfectly smooth finish, but what impressed me most was the attention given to the finer details.
From their feet and toes to their scales, body markings and facial features, each animal has its own unique character.
It's these little details that make the sculptures so interesting and deserving of appreciation.
A Little Animal Kingdom, A Lot Of Heart! ❤️
Behind every beautiful place are many hardworking hands — the designers, builders, gardeners, cleaners and maintenance staff who make it possible for us to enjoy these spaces.
We may not always know their names or see them at work, but their efforts deserve our appreciation.
Not everything may be to our liking, but that doesn't mean we should belittle the fruits of someone else's labour.
Not all heroes wear capes. Some carry brooms, tools and watering cans.
A little respect and a simple thank you go a long way.
I must say, whoever designed and created this playground certainly put a lot of thought and effort into it.
These aren't just ordinary animal figures. Each has its own character, with little details waiting to be discovered.
What a lovely way to bring a little Animal Kingdom into the heart of our neighbourhood!
